Past EventsOld House Salvage Project and Sale: Four historic houses destined for removal have become old house organ donors through the efforts of the Moore County Historical Association (MCHA). The homes were salvaged for lumber and architectural elements and sold to old house owners, restorers and anyone with a need for old house parts. Many thanks to the First Baptist Church in Southern Pines for allowing us to hold the sale and to benefit from 100% of the proceeds. Over 99% of all the antique inventory found new homes. Landmark Ornament: In 2005 the Shaw House was selected as the Southern Pines Landmark Ornament by The Friends of the Southern Pines Library. The 24k gold-finished ornament program depicts architectural landmarks of Southern Pines. For more information about this limited edition ornament, please visit the Southern Pines Library website at http://www.sppl.net/ Reprint book: Helen Huttenhauer's out-of-print book, "Young Southern Pines", is now back in publication. The book is available through the MCHA or the Country Bookshop in Southern Pines. Ongoing repair and restoration projects continue at each of the five historic houses maintained by the Association.
